Gemba Coach - European Based with fluent French or German

Your prior experiences supporting and working within a Lean organization will provide the cast-iron confidence you need to successfully teach your clients. During and between Rapid Improvement Events, you will coach your clients to practice daily improvements and “kaizen’ in order to not simply sustain results, but build on the kaikaku events. Piece by piece throughout the enterprise or site, you will coach your client as they learn to make continuous improvement a “habit of the many versus a skill of the few.”

As the daily coach to the local management team, you will forge key relationships at this level while continuously building relationships with associates located within the value stream. You will work to build internal competencies with the Lean Support team, enabling the client to build a lasting infrastructure to support their Lean transformation. You will seek out “teachable moments” understanding that unless Lean knowledge is spread to all levels, lasting results will not be achieved.

Schedule and Home Office

As a “gemba coach” and under the direction of a senior consultant, you will be assigned to client(s) for whom you will focus your coaching efforts. The work schedule will require that you arrive by noon on Monday, departing on Thursday afternoon/early evening. You week will conclude with a half day “in the office” on Friday to summarize and reflect on the week’s efforts. While not on-site with a client, you will work from your home-based office where you will have a company-provided lap top computer and receive reimbursements for defined office and travel expenses.

As a successful gemba coach, you will:

  •  Deliver the results promised in the visioning and future state design created at the start of the engagement. The focus will be to help redesign traditional work into a “Value Stream Focused” environment.
  •  Support the client in the planning, preparation, and implementation of the Rapid Improvement Events.
  •  Coach and transfer knowledge to managers, supervisors and value stream associates in the attainment of identified improvement opportunities.
  •  Create a dramatically improved flow of value that is immediately visible and attributable to their coaching.
  •  Support the implementation of model cells using flow, standard work, visual management, and pull systems.
  • Growth - Identify opportunities for helping your clients in other areas and locations, suggesting potential solutions where you and the assigned Sensei can proactively create pull for organic business and “ask for the order.”

Lean Sensei - European Based with fluent French or German

Your prior experiences leading a Lean transformation and participating on aforementioned improvement events will provide the cast-iron confidence you need to successfully teach your clients. Between Rapid Improvement Events, you will teach and expect your clients to practice daily improvement and “kaizen’ in order to not simply sustain results, but build on the kaikaku events. Piece by piece throughout the enterprise or site, you will help your client make continuous improvement a “habit of the many versus a skill of the few.”

As the primary Lean coach to the executive team, you will forge your key relationships at this level yet you will be as comfortable on the “shop floor” as you are in the Board Room. You will work with internal improvement teams with the goal of becoming their mentor while understanding that unless Lean knowledge is spread to all levels, lasting results will not be achieved.

As a rhythmic coach, you will have two to three client assignments, although you may opt for less for lifestyle reasons. This translates into typically two to three weeks per month at client sites. While not on-site with a client, you will work from your home-based office where you will have a company-provided lap top computer and receive reimbursements for defined office and travel expenses.

As a successful Sensei, you will:

  • Deliver the results promised in the visioning and future state design created at the start of the engagement. The focus will be to help redesign traditional work into a “Value Stream Focused” environment.
  • Guide clients in the development and implementation of their strategy deployment.
  • Generate pull for the essential successive passes and spread of Lean throughout the organization, creating model value streams.
  • Create a dramatically improved flow of value that is immediately visible and attributable to their coaching.
  • Develop model cells using flow, standard work, visual management, and pull systems.
  • Coach and transfer knowledge by developing your clients’ own skills in RIE and kaizen for event selection, preparation, follow-up and auditing.
  • Growth - Identify opportunities for helping your clients in other areas and locations, suggesting potential solutions where you can proactively create pull for organic business and “ask for the order.”
